The
Venus Soiree at the Dickson
Gallery Photos
& Story by Gwenda Anthony
Friday,
Jan. 27, The Dickson Gallery
of Fine Art was the scene for
the opening reception of "The
Venus Soiree." The event
was billed as "an exquisite
fine art jewelry affair just
in time for Valentine's Day."
The
show featured jewelry fashioned
by Jai Johnson, Julia Humphreys,
Libby Lynch, Amanda Bain, Holly
Couch, Janice Sumler and
Jacque Hillman. To inquire about
purchases, call gallery owner
Rachel Dickson at 423-9708.
Libby,
who teaches art at the University
School of Jackson, is Julia's
daughter. They are both from
Humboldt and have been sculpting
glass jewelry for about five
years. Libby's specialty is
crosses, while her mom specializes
in pendants and pins made
by fusing glass. Jewelry
Artist Jai Johnson uses polymer
clay in her pieces.
Entertaining
the guests was flutist Becky
Googe, who plays with the Jackson
Symphony and is the wife of
attorney George Googe.
Gwenda
Anthony is a senior writer at
