The
arts took the limelight at two
events sponsored by The Dickson
Gallery of Fine Art.
The
downtown Jackson gallery recently
joined forces with Carolina
Avenue Color and Design
Salon. The new business at 365
North Parkway, Suite 100, was
the setting for a grand opening
wine and cheese reception.
The
salon will showcase fine art
from artists courtesy of The
Dickson whose owner is Rachel
Dickson. She was approached
by Carolina Taylor, the salon's
owner, about forming an artist
partnership. "I
could see joining with Dickson
Gallery as a merger between
two different art genres kind
of crisscrossing," Taylor
said. "The avenues of hair
and the avenues of art all kind
of merge together at some point."
Taylor said. Dickson
called this an "ideal combination.
We're always looking for unique
ways to expose the Jackson community
to original artwork and appeal
to a different yet distinctive
audience." Among
the many mingling at the reception
were Autumn Measley, Britini
Curtis, Phillip Collins and
Dana Brooks.

'Vino
& Van Gogh'
A
week later, art lovers gathered
at Premier Place off North Highand
Avenue for a night of wine tasting
and fine art to benefit the
West Tennessee Cerebral Palsy
Association. The
"Vino & Van Gogh"
event was presented by The Dickson
Gallery, and featured a menu
of heavy hors d'oeuvres, live
music and a wide variety of
wines. In
addition to the sale of fine
art provided by the gallery,
wine racks and other iron works
by artist Rankine Rith were
included in the display.
Among
those enjoying the evening were
Crystal Johnson, Julie Spurgeon,
Frank McMeen, and Lisa and David
Piercey.
